Adobe Introduces Latest Firefly GenAI Capabilities

Adobe has unveiled new generative AI capabilities for Adobe Firefly as part of more than 100 Creative Cloud features at Adobe Max 2024.

The US creative software company has launched Firefly Video Model in beta and Firefly Image 3 Model, as well as enhancements to Adobe Firefly Vector Model, Firefly Services and Custom Models.

Adobe revealed that the generative AI tool Firefly has now been used to create over 13 billion images for companies, including IBM, Deloitte, Gatorade, Mattel, and IPG Health.

David Wadhwani, President, Digital Media at Adobe, explains how these feature releases will benefits its users:

“We’re giving the creative community a powerful new brush to paint the world by putting unprecedented power, precision and creative control in their hands.

“With the demand for content projected to grow exponentially, we’re empowering creators to scale the use of their content across marketing, HR and sales teams.”

GenAI Updates

The launch of the Firefly Video Model in beta allows creators to generate video from text or image prompts, lengthen video clips, ease integrations like that of Premier Pro.

Adobe also announced that latest iteration of its Firefly Image 3 Model which can generate images four times faster than previously.

The Adobe Firefly Vector Model has been upgraded to give greater controls to designers using Adobe Illustrator.

Firefly Services and Custom Model improvements for enterprise customers can help to speed up and scale content production for various marketing use cases, according to Adobe.

Further generative AI-related updates include the general availability of Adobe GenStudio for Performance Marketing, which combines Creative Cloud and Experience Cloud applications, to help businesses strengthen their content supply chains meet rising demands for personalise content.

Adobe Express also added new enterprise features to provide teams with AI and approved assets that could be used to protect their brand.

More Creative Cloud Features

Other Creative Cloud to be added or refined related to Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Frame.io.

Adobe Photoshop received several new capabilities, such as Distraction Removal technology to get rid of people and objects that detract from the critical elements of an image. Generative Workspace and Substance 3D Viewer were launched in beta, while Generative Fill, Generative Expand, Generate Similar, and Generate Background were made generally available.

Adobe Illustrator has gained Objects on Path so that users can move objects along any path of their art board, enhanced Image Trace for quicker conversion of images to vectors and Generative Shap Fill in beta to add vectors to shapes for unique design creation. A beta version of the web app Project Neo to create and edit 3D designs was also announced.

Finally, the latest version of Frame.io was made generally available, offering users new video post-production features to assist with collaboration on audio, photos, design, and more. Canon, Nikon, and Leica have all now been included in Frame.io’s ‘Camera to Cloud’ ecosystem.

Adobe also announced a global initiative to help 30 million learners improve their AI, content creation, and digital marketing skills. In total, Adobe has committed over $100 million to support creativity for people and businesses around the world.
